INTRODUCTION
Transport being the most visible element in the logistics ecosystem needs to be well equipped in terms of visibility, traceability, cost effectiveness and fuel efficiency. The Transport Management System acts as a centralized platform to streamline the entire transportation process from planning, execution to freight payment. It encompasses Fleet booking, Load Planning, Route Analysis, Tracking and Payment.
ONLINE BOOKING PORTAL
TMS has both a vendor and customer facing online application. The customer-facing online portal enables customers to make fleet bookings at their convenience eliminating the need for manual booking processes. The listed Vendor/LSP’s are then notified the fleet requirements put forward by the customer.
LOAD BOARD
The Load Board Feature in TMS providers a control tower feature enabling vendors to view the list of all their vehicles and their current load represented in a 2D visualization. The length, width, height along with body type details are also enclosed. The overload % and quantity mentioned enables capacity planning, regulatory compliance, and efficiency as well.
BIDDING MODULE
After the requirements put forward by the customer, the Vendors/LSP’s participate in the bidding process by sending RFQ along with ETA. Based on the ETA and price quoted, the customer chooses the most suitable vendor. The negotiating tab facilitates a smooth negotiation process between the two parties.
DASHBOARDS AND WORK ORDERS
A work order initiates task assignment, documentation, and tracking. The customer information, pickup and delivery locations, cargo specifications, transportation mode and any special instructions are a part of task assignment. Dashboards integrated with the work orders displays the status of the pending, completed work orders etc.
ROUTE OPTIMIZATION
With multi modal facility and route optimization, the customer has the best choice of carrier thereby reducing the transportation costs. The tracking dashboards updates the delivery status and work order.
