The usual duration from signing an employment contract to arrival in Germany is about 12 months. However, the duration of the process for the talents is from 12 to 18 months. This is because they are only presented to German employers from a level of A2, and at this point they are already about 6 months into the process.
In Germany, a company that trains a driver receives various allowances and support. During the training period in the company, which usually lasts about 6 to 8 weeks, the company is responsible for paying the driver's salary. In addition, during this time the truck driver has to convert his third-country driving licence into an EU driving licence. This involves both theoretical and practical tests, and the associated costs of €500 to €1,200 are paid by the truck driver directly from his salary.
