The planning of optimal transportation routes is economically crucial for logistics companies, as each individual transport is directly related to the fuel consumption, personnel costs, compliance with delivery deadlines and ultimately affecting the final result. In addition to the ever-increasing traffic volume, there is another challenge for medium and long-haul routes: the lack of safe truck parking spaces, especially at the main traffic arteries through Europe. According to estimates, around 31,000 truck parking spaces are missing on German motorways alone.
In order not to exceed the legally prescribed driving times, drivers must look for a parking space in good time. On average, they drive to four parking areas until a free spot has been found. This increases the stress level and leads to an increase in frustration on the part of the drivers. The search for a parking space causes time loss, increased fuel consumption and is on the part of the logistics company and the responsible dispatcher one of the main reasons that deliveries are delayed.
Bosch Secure Truck Parking is a digital solution that can be used to reserve truck parking spaces in advance. The leading truck booking platform now includes ~350 parking areas in Europe and allows easy finding and booking of parking spaces by both dispatchers and drivers themselves.
Bosch Secure Truck Parking is a market-proven solution that solves one of the key challenges. On the other hand, we see that many companies are reluctant to include another solution in their application landscape as dispatchers are already struggling with a high number of individual applications. In order to reduce this complexity, numerous integration projects were set up in the past, which in turn entailed a high amount of time and money.
With Bosch L.OS - Logistics Operating System, we want to significantly reduce the complexity of system landscapes. Thanks to the smart integration of various digital solutions, TMS/FMS users can now use solutions such as Bosch Secure Truck Parking as an integrated solution without their own integration efforts.
The lack of secure truck parking spaces is also one of the topics for which LIS Logistik Informationssysteme GmbH will offer its customers a solution for. “The lack of parking areas not only affects the integrity of the cargo, but also causes higher safety risks for drivers and other road users, as well as an increase in freight theft.”, says Timo Kneilmann, Management & Marketing Team Leader, LIS Logistik Informationssysteme GmbH. To counteract this problem, users using the new Q3 release of WinSped® can now benefit from Bosch Secure Truck Parking as an embedded solution.
As part of the graphical dispatching, dispatchers can display available parking spaces during route planning as so-called Point of Interest (PoI) on the integrated map. Detailed information per parking area provides all safety-relevant features and prices clearly. After selecting the appropriate parking space, the dispatcher can reserve the desired parking space.
Thanks to the integration, WinSped® users can access the parking space booking platform without changing the system. In addition, WinSped shows the reserved parking spaces directly in the route planning. With real-time availability, convenient payment on account, reservation options and audit trail parking, LIS offers customers a comprehensive solution to improve safety and comfort for drivers and to achieve better planning security for dispatchers.

With the first integration of a value-added service via Bosch L.OS, the basis for future expansion stages was created. For Timo Kneilmann, it is quite clear that “Combining a variety of digital services in transport logistics brings the greatest benefits to those involved. As a Bosch L.OS partner, our transport management software WinSped® offers the option of integrating these services into the TMS as needed. “
