The planning of optimal transportation routes is economically crucial for logistics companies, as each individual transport is directly related to the fuel consumption, personnel costs, compliance with delivery deadlines and ultimately affecting the final result. In addition to the ever-increasing traffic volume, there is another challenge for medium and long-haul routes: the lack of safe truck parking spaces, especially at the main traffic arteries through Europe. According to estimates, around 31,000 truck parking spaces are missing on German motorways alone.

In order not to exceed the legally prescribed driving times, drivers must look for a parking space in good time. On average, they drive to four parking areas until a free spot has been found. As part of the graphical dispatching, dispatchers can display available parking spaces during route planning as so-called Point of Interest (PoI) on the integrated map. Detailed information per parking area provides all safety-relevant features and prices clearly. After selecting the appropriate parking space, the dispatcher can reserve the desired parking space.

Thanks to the integration, WinSped® users can access the parking space booking platform without changing the system. In addition, WinSped shows the reserved parking spaces directly in the route planning. With real-time availability, convenient payment on account, reservation options and audit trail parking, LIS offers customers a comprehensive solution to improve safety and comfort for drivers and to achieve better planning security for dispatchers.
